Bacteria cause chlamydia. The bacteria can pass from the mucous membrane fluids to another person. If your mucous membrane comes in touch with infected mucous membrane, you may get Chlamydia. What is mucous membrane? The soft skin lining that you find in your mouth, on your genitals and inside the genitals and anus. Any sexual activity that brings you in contact with infected mucous membrane will transmit Chlamydia.
