Document Stands Keyboard Trays Forearm Supports
Document Stands

Using a document stand will help prevent distortion of print that takes place when a document is slanted away from a persons eyes. To help prevent eyestrain the document that a person types or views while typing should be the exact distance and angle as the computer screen.

The first step is to angle your document stand. A document should be close to the side of the computer monitor to help reduce a person from looking side to side. As far as height, there is little known evidence whether a document should be the exact height as the computer monitor. If a document or a computer monitor is too high, this will cause strain the in the need and shoulders.

Keyboard Trays

The angle and the actual height of a keyboard can be adjusted in order to fit the person to change their posture. The disadvantage of the keyboard tray is that there is only sufficient room for the keyboard itself. This forces a person to reach in order to use the mouse. If the keyboard tray is adjusted at the wrong angle such as: too high or too low, this will cause the user to bend their wrists as they type which can be uncomfortable.

The purpose of the keyboard tray is so that it is to automatically adjust the height and the angle of the mouse and the keyboard. The recommended height level for a keyboard is elbow level. Although this is the recommended height, any height is appropriate when it is comfortable to the person using the device.

The actual angle of the keyboard tray is just as important as the height. For the perfect fit and view of a computer screen, adjust the tray so the keyboard itself is about the identical angle as your forearm. A keyboard that is very low, tilting the keyboard a little backward will help.

Forearm Supports

An effective way to support ones arms is to measure the height from the shoulders. Forearm supports prevent a wrist from excessive bending back while engaged with work on a keyboard and mouse. A person can avoid feeling pressure underneath the wrist area or the elbow area that can occur with the use of wrist rests or chair armrests.

When a PC-user lacks the up and down or even the tilt movement in the newer products, it can feel very uncomfortable and confining. They are much more costly than wrist rests. Height adjustability is significant to the comfort of its users. Most current forearm supports are conveying "arms" that attach either to the front of the work surface or chair arm rests. Some people use wrist rests as forearm rests. This can be most appropriate and functional. James Brown writes about Ergonomic Keyboards and Mice, Ergonomic Split Keyboard and Computer Arm Rests.
