Even if throwing your laundry in a pile and leaving your bedsheets in a mess sounds like the easy life, it doesn’t make your living quarters any different from when you were 11 years old and living with your parents. Except now, your mom won’t be yelling at you from the kitchen, telling you to clean your room. If you were a lucky kid, she probably cleaned your room for you. Face it – it would do you good to pay attention to mom. After all, she’s a woman, and if you were paying attention, you’d know that women want cleanliness and orderliness. If you’re a guy whose apartment is in repulsive disarray, here are ten simple things you can do to improve it:
1) Nothing on the floor. The only things that are on your floor should be things that belong on the floor, such as rugs and mats. Use your shelves and other storage areas to get rid of the clutter. If you don’t have shelves, shame on you. Now’s the time to get them.
2) Put everything in a good light. This means that every square inch of your pad should be accessible to light of some sort. You don’t want to bring a lady over and scare her with a livingroom that reminds her of the scary back alleys in Brooklyn. Here’s a helpful tip: lights with slight pink tones are flattering and they don’t form harsh shadows like your regular lights. Also, don’t be afraid to use candles. If you don’t have them, get them – they’re romantic. If you have them, use them. Don’t let them gather dust, especially since dust damages their scent.
3) Place some art on your walls – and I don’t mean taped centerfolds from Playboy. You can get affordable framed art prints online. If you’re artistically inclined, you may want to display your own photographs and artwork as well. Try to include some art with subtle sexual themes, to show the ladies that you’re a sensualist. Keep in mind that the key word is “subtle” and not “sexual”.
4) Always have an extra unused toothbrush. This is for the times when a woman unexpectedly sleeps over. Believe me, she’ll be very grateful in the morning when you tell her you have a spare toothbrush.
5) Provide ample entertainment. Don’t limit your guests’ entertainment choices to your videogame collection. Include magazines, comics, and coffee table books that cater to different tastes. This will definitely make your guests feel more welcome.
